I looking to make the plunge to purchase a new tdi pro and I will be using it to look for civil war items what coil would be the best choice for civil war hunting. I don't live in any gold barring areas so looking for gold would be out of the question please advise tdi pro hunters and what works the best mono or not

Just curious, how deep are you planning on digging? As I look over your list of detectors, I note that you are good to at least 2'. Frank...

I use a TDI with the stcok 12" DF coil for Civil War relic hunting in the highly mineralizaed ground of northern Virginia. If you can also find the 7" DF coil that White's sells, then I would probably pick it up for the trashy areas.

Unless you are planning on going to Australia to hunt gold, save yourself some money and get a standard TDI or aTDI-SL. Everyone I've talked to at the hunts I've been to have been pleased with the SL. It goes deep and has a much more stable threshold than the standard TDI, it weighs less and can use less expensive batteries.

The one down side to the TDI, bullets give a low tone signal like a cut nail, so you end up digging lots of iron to find the bullets.
