Tavern and Inn C.1830's Part Deux!!!

Woke up to rain today and prayed it would stop by the time I got off of work so I could hit my new spot up. The hunting gods shone upon me and I was swingin by 5pm!! Only had 2 hours, the Mrs's couldn't understand how I could possibly pass up dinner for hunting, who needs to eat when your hitting targets right!! I have a feeling since the ground was nice and saturated it helped me with some of my finds today.

THE LESSON FOR TODAY IS ALWAYS RECHECK YOUR HOLE AFTER YOU THINK YOU'VE FOUND YOUR TARGET!!

A couple of targets in I got a solid hit and dug a wheat about 4" down, all good, I swung back over and BING BING, still a really pronounced hit, dug down to about 7" and pulled an 1831 LC!!! YESSS! second one in 2 days!!

THE LESSON FOR TODAY IS ALWAYS RECHECK YOUR HOLE AFTER YOU THINK YOU'VE FOUND YOUR TARGET!!

After digging some more I got a really nice ping and then a dong and ping and pong hahaha, it was all over the place, so I dug down about 3" and pull a Nickel, re-swing, Dong Dong, dig a little pull a nail, same hole, re-swing Ping Ping dig down another 2-3" BOOYAAAA my first seated liberty!!! I was so pumped!!

The rest of the time I dug a nice 1897 IH, the smallest piece of silver I've ever founda tiny screw on one side and shiny on the other, a bunch of iron I have to clean and what looks like a lock\latch plate from a door. I'm still stuck in the same 10' radius, every time I venture out of the circle the hits completely drop off!! Its hard to walk away. I also wish I was finding more relics. In due time I suppose.

On monday I have permission from a friend to hunt his property up near Ardentsville, PA, near the South Mountains. The old road that connected Chambersburg and Gettysburg cuts right through his land!! So excited for some great CW finds!!

Looks like you had an enjoyable experience! That patina on a couple of the coins really brings out the features. Congratulations.

Amazing hunt! The soil was good to those coins. The seated looks like it was minted a year ago and dropped yesterday! Congrats on some excellent finds.

nice finds you got there!! half dime......swweeet! and it sounds like u hit the penny trifecta (LC, IH, wheat) way to go!

Looks like you had a great day!

I like that seated! Very crisp looking details on it!

That 10 foot radial area is certainly producing for you! Nice Large Cent and IH Cent and that Half Dime is in such great condition! :icon_thumright:
Your lessons about rechecking the hole are fundamentals that none of us should ignore, unless we want to miss some nice potential targets.

That half dime is in great shape! Worth sending off to get slabbed maybe or at least get a very nice coin holder for it. Still looking for my first half-dime seated only seated so far for me is a dime. Large cent is great also, soil there must be mild. Great stuff =)

Very nice coin
