Last night being I Ma new to my fisher F2 which i love coming from bounty hunter.

I wanted to learn more about the visual display.

I air tested coins at 1,5,8 inches away.

Here are my findings the number gets higher as you go farther from the coil. My question is this normal or a dime at 73 at 1 inch should read a 73 at 8 inches???

I currently have the 8 inch stock coil..

I was thinking of upgrading to the 10 or 11dd will that be better for me. I am mainly a coin hunter

Hey, I've had my f2 for about a month now and I love it. Just from my own experience with it if you add 8 inches of dirt between your coil and coin it wont read quite as high. Air test are good but ground conditions change a lot. Try making a test garden and compare numbers. I'd be surprised if they matched up.

Bowsmoke is right. The air tests are not an indication of what the numbers would be while target is in the ground.

Yea.... I pretty much just look to see if it says DIME or not. 8 or of 10 times for me if it says DIME.... it pretty much has been on my F2.

I tell you what I figured out for an accurate-ish reading for coins. I place coins in Blue (doesn't matter what color) Solo Cups and filled it up with the dirt around my house. That seemed to give me a better reading than just waving a naked coin in the air and hoping for the best.
