Does anyone else have the problem of very old rusted iron reading as silver. Got a huge hit. Dug down to find an old rusted handle, Hinge and some nails about 12" down. buried beside these is a rock, flat on top about a foot and a half thick and about 3 to 4 feet wide. Was still getting a signal over the rock. Unfortunately I was rudely interupted due to an ownership dispute. Although the individual who gave me permission was legally in the right, I find it best to let sleeping dogs lie. Fortunately I realized I did not have the proper tools at the time and had already covered my tracks. I passed on the info to the rightful individual wishing them the best of luck. Ya win some ya lose some. Anyway back to the original question. Thanks in advance for any insight.

The best, most consistent, strongest, most repeatable dollar coin signal I have ever dug turned out to be a 1/2" thick, 4" wide x 3 foot long hunk of steel down about 2 feet.

The 2nd best was an old pipe wrench at about 18 inches!

Yup, been there.

I figure its a perspective kind of thing - a large object down deep probably returns about the same signal as a smaller shallower object
