Yesterday on my walk, I noticed a neighbor was throwing away some metal that he said was "just tin." I asked him for it and he said I could have it, so I loaded it into my truck. On the way back from the metal recyclers, I noticed a socket on the roadside so I snagged it. On the highway I noticed a tool-like object so I looped to get it. Irwin Vise grips. Now I need to figure out how to get a free lottery ticket.

Are you my uncle? :laughing7:

I grew up with that man and your just like him.
He he was just post depression but they were poor anyway so they didn't notice, but they found, sold, re-purposed everything they could

80 years later and he's still pulling over for what my aunt calls "junk" lol
Nice job!

My wife just got an awesome roadside furniture pick up, it was a 4 drawer dresser with a pull down desk build in at the top, had 2 secret drawers behind the letter boxes 1940's I think. Had a hilarious note inside one of them. "I'm sorry I was an OK friend" I laughed.

I am always scanning with my peeps looking for construction projects or curb treasures. You scored some nice vice grips there mate. A spare socket is also a keeper in my book. Well done.:icon_thumright:

I too do this on a daily basis.....I am quite surprised at what is discarded or lost from moving vehicles on our roadways. Nice Recoveries.

A friend found a guitar in the trash. She told her husband and they retrieved it. It was very bruised and abused. He replaced a broken piece, sanded it down, stained it, had it finished, and now it's his favorite guitar. Can't say it enough, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Congrats!

Nice finds. I'm with you and most of the rest. I pick up enough tools on the road during the year to put them into a box in our garage sale, and will usually net around $30.00 for it. If its something I need, then into my toolbox it goes !

That's what it's all about seeing the treasures laying around. We live in such a throw away society, but the ones that can see the little treasures will profit nicely. Well done!

True story; back in the spring I was on my way to work on garbage day and noticed a giant pile of trash on the roadside. Of course I pulled over, and on top of one of the boxes was a homemade clock on a piece of slate, with COINS glued on as the 12 numerals. A mix of foreign an US, 1958 to 1966, all silver except one. Could not believe it.

What's amazing to me is how some people look down their nose at this stuff. You know darn good and well that they wouldn't walk past a dollar bill laying on the ground, but they act like you're a rag picker for metal detecting or picking up wheel weights.

Society as a whole in America is becoming more ignorant at breakneck speed. That proves beneficial for us treasure hunters who know the value of many things and have scalpel sharp eagle eyes scanning continually for the next "find". Matters not to me where my treasure comes from or how I came about it, albeit ethically & legal of course.:icon_thumright:

Nice! I just made $94 at the scrap yard today for hauling off the aluminum window frame 'garbage' from a job this past weekend. I really enjoy turning trash into cash. 8-)

This thread was the last one I replied to before arriving at my bus stop. Not 15' after getting off the bus, I spotted this.
