Taking Close Ups?

an ipad/cannon dxi

I am familiar with the iPad. Use the crop feature - it works great.

However, with coins its all about lighting. You will have to experiment to get the lighting so that the coins look good on TNET.

This link will help with the crop feature. How to Crop Photos on an iPad With the Photos App: 5 Steps

This is an example of what ca be done with the iPad crop feature:

If you have a "macro" option on a point and shoot camera, try that. It works wonders. you basically get some sort of light to shine on it and put the lens a few millimeters away from the coin. just keep a really steady hand.

You take a jewelers Loup, and put the lense of your camera close to it, and take a pic that way.

That is how you get extreme close ups, suitable to diagnose a double MM

Thank you John.. Exactly the information I was seeking!
I need to scan buttons, retaining depth of field. The newer scanners lack this ability just as your blog post describes. Finally I have the optical term feature > CCD Charged Coupled Device, I needed to zero in on to avoid another costly mistake. I thought these were no longer being manufactured at all, so I was in a state of pending - what to do - trying to avoid more cash outlay for a tripod that would tilt face down, which has lighting issues too. A scan is so ridiculously much easier.

Now to find a scanner with CCD. I see the Epson Perfection V6 with Photoshop Elements loaded too.
I need a printer also.. I'm not seeing other all in ones with the optical CCD and high resolution too.
Had been looking at the 11X17 format Brother since I need to scan trays of 9x12" but see nothing about CCD in the specs.
Any further suggestions?
