I've known every single word of this song since sometime before I was in 5th grade in 1986. My teacher recited it to the class reading from Shel's book.
When she was done, I recited it to the class without the book......she read along and just sorta stared at me. At 11 years old, I'd known it for years.
One of the oddities about me, I can memorize song lyrics very quickly.
I knew better than to recite the other tunes I knew off the same album.....The ones about gettin stoned, sex freaks, and the guy with two wieners.
