I found it in an old creek bed. I believe it is a gem. Not sure which type. It looks and feels to be shaped into a scraper. It has some knapping on it. Fits perfect in your hand. I have found many items here in this creek. From points to scrapers to effigy's.

I took it to a jeweler here in town and they couldn't help. It has beautiful light refraction.

It sure is reddish, and it does fit in your hand. Not knowing where you are, can't really narrow down the possibilities.

Like a burgundy color obsidian maybe but it also looks like fire obsidian as well with that fire, I think that's fire, just wild guessing here though, someone else more experienced might have a better idea of what you have.
Really cool find though!:icon_thumright:

What state do you live in? Makes all the difference. The local and semi local geology is important in these cases.

That’d be great if it is obsidian. I was kinda thinking either man made (like goldstone) or possibly slag, but I’m not seeing any bubbles or other signs of that. No matter what it is, it’s a great find!

Your two images do not match.
It is not obsidian. If it is not man made then it can only be red jasper with an opal crust (that transparent thing on top).

They are the same item at a different angle.

I'm leaning toward glass, but it could be a piece of thermally altered flint. Kaolin flint from So.IL turns that color and also can get a glassy look. Gary
