One summer morning about 8am, we were out playing when we say a delivery truck had dropped dozens of Table talk pies from his truck. In those days most trucks never really bothered to lock up their trucks from petty theft. Besides it was easier not to hassle with the doors at their next stop. The driver never noticed the dropped load, but we were all over it like a swarm of bees in seconds. We had to make several trips into the street to make a full recovery, but our teamwork was unsurpassed.
Once we had our "booty" we started making piles of apple, blueberry, cherry, custard and lemon pies.
After that was done we just started gouging down pie after pie until we felt ill. Instead of splitting up the remaining pies and talking them home, we had one the the world's greatest pie fights. The street was literally littered from corner to corner with pie.
