It does look like a collar stud. I also just noticed the pommel is the shape of a birds head. Looks like a bird of prey

Also noticed the circular part moves.
I'm guessing to allows it to easily slip through an open in a jacket or shirt. Kinda like a button hole.

Not sure what it's for or the actual age of it, but the sword on it looks to be a circa 1815 style eagle head sword. Nice find.
