I agree with d2 That is nice!!!
I'm no expert but have researched this a bit today on Google and haven't found an answer.

My own opinion/guess ( very wild )
just because of the style is - Navy
because of the stamps - English/British
and it looks old - 19th Century?

I look forward to hearing from an expert.

Out there someplace there is an extreamly thourough site about sword markings from several countries... very cool, and very interesting.

I'll be damned - of course I can't find it now.

Awesome find. If you can remember where you found it, I would try to go back and hunt the area, if it has not changed too much. There might be a few more goodies in the ground. Definitely a find of a lifetime.

I own 2 of these, bought around 20 years ago for some $20 bucks each. I seem to recall they are Austrian artillery short swords, can't remember where I got them. There were lots of these then (the same could be said for German lugers once too).

I tried to Google it up, but couldn't find it.

I wanted to try them for machetes ((at the price), but they are too thin for that.

Sorry my memory isn't better.
