Went out metal detecting today, lots of clad and found 3 silver coins today: 1948 Roosevelt dime and 2 1964 quarters. Also found my first Buffalo nickel 1936, sorry I was excited to find one. I'm such a "green horn".

Here's a few photos.

Nice finds and congrats on your first buffalo! I still haven't dug one of those

It took me 15 years to dig my first Buffalo Nickel, [ 2 weeks ago]

I found a buffalo nickel about seven years ago and my wife accidently threw it away on me. Since then I have found a 1784 Spanish coin, old half dollars, several silver coins, Indian heads, a V Nickel and today my first Shield Nickel. However I have yet to find another buffalo nickel. I thought maybe my wife cursed me when she threw my first one out! At this point a buffalo would make me happier then a piece of silver. Great finds!

Congrats on the silver finds!! That buffalo was in some BAD soil! Thanks for the view!!

Sweet silver! Congrats!

Very nice.

They are hard to come by for some reason. I have only dug 2 Buffalos' in the last 8 months. I will dig hundreds of pull tabs to every nickel it seems, which are mostly Jeffersons'.

I like the buffs but unfortunately the dates are almost always gone.

I've been detecting for16 years and still haven't found one yours is in good shape

Sent from my SCH-S738C using TreasureNet in the middle of a field somewhere

Wow didn't realize how hard it is to find a Buffalo nickel detecting, I'm always concentrating on finding silver coins I don't find a lot of nickels, when I do find them its always a Jefferson, and lots of pull tab junk. I recall this one toning at 79/80 with the AT PRO but clearer than a bottle cap but not quite.like a penny. Not sure if that makes sense to anyone.

Thats some story EC and Davers I should feel fortunate for finding a Buffalo in my third year detecting.

Thanks for comments everyone!
