Sweet Wheat's w/ Damage

DSC_0004.JPGDSC_0010.JPGDSC_0024 (2).JPGDSC_0029 (2).JPGThese 3 Wheat's look like they have a shiny coating put on them or a wax? But they all have damage 'Missing the Copper in spot's. a 1953 and 2 1953 D cents, One 1953D has the most damage on the reverse side missing copper near the top and around the rim . the other 2 are missing or cracking looking around the edge's and rim. Any thought's ? Just a 'Note' My Mom would give People cash as long as they gave Her something to hold such as these coins or antiques, then if She wasn't paid back the stuff was Her's like a Pawn Shop Momma ...lol... thats just My thoughts about where these coins all came from as I found them in Her Old stuff I have been going threw ...

Steel wheats not rare they made them out of Steel for 1953 because copper was in high demand because of the war.

Steels were made in 1943 (guess you hit the wrong key but just info for the OP)

Improperly annealed metal can cause the planchet to split or peel. Any kind of moisture can make strange looking patterns on the coin. Interesting but not particularly rare.
