Looks like a little morning stretch for ol' Mother Nature. How's Californy doing? Did it drop into the sea yet? :icon_thumleft:

"Did it drop into the sea yet." Ah there's a famliar phrase, along with "it's gonna slide into the sea" and "when it falls off into the sea". We hear it around here every day.

It'll happen, eventually. Of that most everybody is in agreement. Might be 3000 years from now, might be tomorrow, no one can possibly know. Oregon is overdue as well.

Of course California is not going to fall off into the Pacific... but what is very likely to happen - in my lifetime - probably even this year IMHO - is that the San Andreas will rupture... causing some 20 foot of slippage over a one hundred mile stretch... resulting in shaking and destruction the likes of which Southern Californians have never seen.

This was written before the Easter 2010 quake which has resulted in thousands of triggered quakes heading straight for the locked up area of the San Andreas. (see below my red line of triggered quakes and the red circle where the energy seems to be focused - and note the 4.1 that occurred off the coast of LA yesterday)

Yes, I still believe a major quake along the Southern San Andreas is immenent.

I can't find this in the news anywhere myself, but I find this swarm of quakes throughout the Aegean Sea and Turkey in the past 24 hours extraordinary. :o

Marc I just noticed your post. Same thing along Iran/Iraq border the past two weeks. No special news there either.
