SW Missouri - NEED HELP identifying possible tree symbol

came across this tree symbol in SW Missouri while returning to a known cave sight from 20 years ago. Please see the attached picture and let me know what you think. Could it be an axe symbol or a lightning bolt symbol or just nothing? Any info you can give would be helpful. Thank you.

Sorry but I don't think it is man made. It looks like storm damage and not much more. If it was man made I think you would have smoother sides and image. Just not convincing to me. But keep your eyes open who knows what you will find tomorrow.
