suspender clip date?

I found this suspender clip today in my backyard. I'm not sure how to tell what date range this might be from. definitely does not look like the newer style ones. I believe it is older. any help would be appreciated.

Hard to say without knowing the size but it looks to be made to clip on to very thin material... like silk stockings? The styling seems turn-of-the-20th C.

Never seen one quite like that.

thank you for your help. yeah I thought it comes together different. there is a hole in the middle of the main circle and when you close it a piece comes through. for silk items like you said it would work.
