I found this while detecting a yard of a historic house in my hometown. I think it's a suspender clasp of some sort, but not sure. Any info that you can give will help. It says "R & Co." or "R & G", not sure. Also has "Keystone Brace" stamped on it and the number "449", which I'm guessing is a model number? Finally it's stamped "Pat. 1871"

Could the R be a K? Im thinking the Keystone Suspender Company out of New Jersey? Annual Report, Treasurer of the State of New Jersey ...: Report of the Joint ... - New Jersey. Treasury Dept - Google Books
Im finding little information on the company. Notice the keystone.

Thanks guys! I actually figured it out this afternoon visiting with my Mother. She said in the old days, suspenders were called "braces", so that makes sense. I am curious as to the company though.

It is an R though, so I'm still lost on the company info. If anyone digs anything up, I'd be grateful.
Thanks again!
