I went out today to try and locate the site where a mid to late 19th century farmhouse stood. I succeeded in finding it and now I have a couple of questions.

I found what I believe is a suspender buckle. It doesn't have any markings. I've never seen one with an person on it. Any ideas?

The next object has me stumped. It's made of brass. The portion with the holes is slightly curved like it mounted to something with a rounded surface. The ring section is just about the right size for a finger.

Here are the rest of my non iron finds in case anyone's interested. Nothing spectacular but at least I know I'm in the right area. The shell casings are a 38 WCF and a 32-40. They're both W.R.A. Co. headstamps so they date from the right time period. It's wonderful not having any modern trash but those harmonica pieces were starting to get on my nerves.

Intresting finds. The best part is finding out what it is. ???

That is a 1969 "D" copper penny, worth about 2 Cents??
Sorry, couldn't help my self ;D
Looks like you got a ladies sash buckle too??
When there's old harmonica pieces, there's usually goodies too
God luck on this site, looks like it will be a good one

Great finds :) :) Good photos. The ring thing with a blade on it could be a twine cutter used for tying bundles. It looks rusted and dull now. Just an idea.

Thank you for sharing.

Great ID! Also known as a ring knife. The blade was mounted on the holes. Can't find a pic of an old one, but here's a modern version.

I read that broken ring knives were often use as candle holder handles... or something like that... OK, maybe not... ::) :-\ :-[

I think Gypsy is right, as usual...
