Surveyor's weight?

I suspect this is some sort of surveyor's plumb weight. I was just wondering if any here agree with that and if possible, how old.

It is about 3 inches long, lead, and as it says, about 6 ounces.



The other one looks to be a more normal fishing type weight. They were both found in a stand of trees at a modern school, a long way from any water.

They are both fishing sinkers. no idea why they were in the woods.

Yep, that was my take on it too. Either somebody was practicing their casting or the surveyor lost his weight and was using these as replacements.
