I was going though old finds and came across a ring that I had found at a street tearout where I found seated dime ,shield nickle. When found the I thought is was junk because I saw folded ends, so threw in my pouch and into junk finds at. home. I checking it out today and said wow its heavy and it looks silver , so cleaned it up and turns it is silver , I believe its old silver 20180613_162659.jpg20180613_162702.jpg20180613_162708.jpg20180613_163753.jpg20180613_163814.jpg20180613_163806.jpg20180613_163758.jpg

Hi Jeff... I found the same ring about a month ago in the woods at an old park in Pittsburgh, PA. I also found a couple of Indian Heads, 1883 and 1891, pretty close to where the ring was. I don't know if this was a coincidence that they were so close together or if they were lost at the same time, which would give an indication of an approximate date for the ring. My ring won first place at my last metal detecting club meeting and everyone was very impressed with its condition and the fact that it looks to be really old. I couldn't believe it when I saw your post and you found the same ring, lol! Very cool...

Oh, by the way... Mine is marked "Sterling" on the inside.

That's way cool I didn't see markings but tested positive for silver with acid test, my seated dime was 1877, and shield q nickle was 1882 and was found same area, its crazy same ring miles apart

I am sorry that I got your name wrong Jim... I was looking at a previous post. I guess that we can safely assume that this ring dates back to 1880 to 1900. I had no clue of a time period and your finds coincide with the coins that I found.

Ya it sure does I was hunting a street tearout in downtown which dates back to 1850s so safe to say that the ring is late 1800s to early 1900s. You in PA and I'm in NM, it's just cool, I going to a jeweler to see we can fix it.

Congratualtions on the ring find! :occasion14:

Haha, I have gone through old finds from when I had first started and found a gold pendant clasp, and a Sterling charm that went to a bracelet.

Thought the clasp was brass, it wasn't. Also thought the pendant was because it was completely black.

Nice re-find!

Congratulations Jimmy on recycling your finds, that thing cleaned up beautifully. Nice save once again.

Double check the trash pouch, for sure! I thought I had dug half of a clamp for a yard sprinkler line. Two or three weeks later, cleaning up the trash pile on the back porch, I almost threw it in the brass bucket but took a little closer look to see some writing.....turns out to be a badge or ? off an 1880's horse pulled carriage.

I clean my ring found markers hallmark20180614_124811.jpg20180614_124744.jpg14762.jpeg14767.jpeg
