Surprise bag o' loot!!

I was at a large estate auction a few weeks ago. Long story short, the relative in charge of the auction told me they found piles of old coins worth $38,000!! He mentioned that there were some coins that the appraiser wasn't interested in, and I could look them over. He never called me, so I thought he forgot and flew home. Today my father in law called me and said that the guy dropped off a bag of coins, I can have them, he only wants me to give a small donation to his local 2013 town reunion comittee (he grew up in a town close to my town). He even drew me a map of where the circus and rodeo used to set up back circa 1900!

A lot of the coins are fairly new, but there are some oldies too. The 1928 sixpence is silver I think (gotta do some research). There are 14 1968 and 1969 'silver' dollars (no silver content), and a bunch of loonies and toonies. Face value of the lot is over 57 dollars!

What a nice surprise this morning! I will be making a donation, and I can't wait for spring to follow up on the treasure map.

Way to go JCache! That nickel has to be worth $15.00. :occasion14: It's in great shape.

You and I both know that the real gift is the circus and rodeo information. :P Go hit that spot!

I love Canadian coins as much or more than USA coins. Nice present.
