Hi,
Nothing to exciting, but I found a 1910 "V" nickel just below the grass yesterday in a local park, along with 22 other coins I was able to chip out of the ice. The ground froze early this year and it looks to stay that way for a while. Strange that my first old coin this year was 100 years old and a surface find. Good hunting, Kane 23

Sounds pretty exciting to me! :hello2:

Good job!

It does seem kind of wierd, but some of my oldest coins have been the most shallow. One being a 1900's Barber quarter lying on the surface, just at the base of the grass. :icon_thumleft:

Very nice. A good way to start the year.

My best single find ever was lying on top of the ground in an old dump in Leadville Colorado. An 1875 twenty dollar gold piece. that was in june 1990......GH Kane 23

I found a 40s wheat on top of the ground last week metal detecting, which had clearly been lost long ago. Funny how seem things don't sink in

Coins usually do sink here,so I'm sure the V nickel was a recent loss, but then again in places like ghost towns I have found many nice finds on the surface. I'll sure be glad when winter is over.
Art, just what am I king of? Kane 23

King of the ice is more likely! GH kane 23
