Probably turn of the century from what i've been able to find out. 20th century that is. I believe it's "protonuclein".


PROTONUCLEIN was a very popular tonic between 1900-1930. It was a secret blend of herbs and spices! No, just kidding. It consisted of COW ORGANS: BRAIN, SPLEEN, THYROID, PANCREAS, THYMUS, SALIVARY and ADRENALS, and was made by REED AND CARNRICK. This POWDERED VERSION of the product could be applied to the skin, swallowed, inhaled or injected. PROTONUCLEIN also came in tablet form.

Do a search on "Protonuclein Special powder" and you'll get some interesting Google Books hits regarding its surgical use.
