Hello everyone. I usually only post in the indian artifact section but I thought it would be interesting to some to post some of my other finds here. The following coins and musket balls were all surface finds found while I was hunting Indian artifacts. The first photo are some coins.A 1905 Barber dime,1910 Barber dime,UD Buffalo nickel, and an 1875IH.I've also found an 1858 IH and a V nickel (not pictured).

This is a 1943 Walker I found. It's got a bullet wound.Cool coin with a story to go with it. Was it a victim of target practice or some other crime?

This last photo features musket balls I've found at one of my sites. Of interest are the chewed muskets.I've read that when a bullet mold was lost or broken the lead was shaped into balls and chewed until it was the right circumference to be used with the gun. This was the case with some Indian traded guns which at times did not come with the bullet mold.Interesting and makes you wonder how many people died of lead poisoning.

Love the Barbers. Don't know much about musket balls or whether they are worth anything. Seems like there are a lot of them around.

Eyeball finds? Wow. Makes you wonder what you'd find if you tried detecting those areas eh...? Sweet finds. HH

Thanks everyone. The coins were found in five different sites that i hunt arrowheads in.I own a White's metal detector but have never tried it in any of these locations. I suppose I should. I've used my detector sparingly since I got it. I'll give it a shot.

Your sites will certainly produce more with the MD........

Keep diggin'...

With lead, first you go crazy, then you die!
