Yesterday I started a new site on a local river . There is an old foundation up in the woods on a bench overlooking the old landing site on the river . There are remnant's of an old wharf down along the shore of the tidal river , with a fairly large flats area to hunt . Yesterday I spent 3 hours hunting this tidal flat and was hitting a good amount of targets till the river started filling back up .This morning I returned as early as I could to take advantage of the 4o am low tide . I managed 2 hours before the water filled in again. , Then I headed back up the bank to hunt the foundation area that is facing south and gets enough sun that It is still diggable even on this fine Day of January 8th 2012 here in Maine . I could not believe my eyes when this big silver came out of the ground only 4 inches deep about 15 feet away from the foundation .My first silver coin of 2012 is a 1884 Liberty head silver dollar It is my second silver dollar find but my first U.S. silver dollar . I was doing the Happy Dance ! God I love this sport . The first pics are this mornings digs with the Morgan . The cleaned up finds are my finds from this site yesterday . thanks for looking ! M.R.
