What a beautiful day in Virginia, 64 and the sun shining. Grab the machine and headed off to Cloyd Mountain Battle sight. When I got there I observed two guys in blaze orange...deer hunters. Well I decided I'd best stay out of the woods.
I instead decided to hunt the area around the fair grounds. An hour later I was tired of finding clad so I moved to a near by corn field. I was walking alone with the md near the ground, trying to decide where to hunt. I got a faint reading and decided to check it out. Well about 10" down I saw the edge of what appeared to be a buckle...(slow down heart). Out came the old knife and I recovered what appears to be a 3/4 size US buckle. About 1/3 of the buckle is missing. On the back of the buckle is Stamped OHIO 1863. Now here is the strange part. The back of the buckle is also stamped Tiffany Studio New York.
I don't think for a minute this is a civil war US buckle. I just know I haven't seen any thing like it before. What do you think......Thanks TomB
Thanks guys...went to the web site Zesty and found the buckle. Thanks very much TomB
