I tried an experiment today. Thought I'd try a field I've been wanting to try but
couldn't really hunt due to high weeds. They never cut this stuff. But, I figured
ole man Winter would help out. It did, the grass was still long but it had been
knocked flat with all this cold.

What I was hoping was that the high grass would help keep the ground insulated
enough to dig. I was wrong. :dontknow:

However, I did manage to dig/chip/carve a single modern nickel out of there.

Soooo, I'm not counting the field out, just delayed til Spring. :)

Then, I stopped at a store to rebatterize. While there, I peeked
at the Coinstar slot.

:)

Too soon to quit so I tried the good ole mansion for a bit:

This place is just full of surprises! LOL

But, I usually don't get too surprised while digging.
I just don't expect that every shiny piece to be gold. :)

Still, when I uncovered this one I sat back and said YIPES!! :)

Til I saw the back. :dontknow:

Which brings me to my star of the day.
I know not much, but still! I can't make out anything
on it. But, maybe somebody can pin down a time
frame from the type of loop. :dontknow:

Largest flat button I've found.

If you ask me, a successful day. Some just have
to keep grinding away. Just a couple finds but all in all,
a good day.

Thanks for stopping by and keep the faith!

ANY day a flat button is found is a great day to me. Congrats on persevering.

Nice! The flattie is cool and so is the WW2 era .30 carbine bullet is too!

Nice work, nice ox knob, button and other finds!

Not too shabby I'd say. BTW, I have never found anything in a coinstar, oh well. Tomorrow might be above freezing so hoping to get a short time to detect before the rain comes. You're right not easy to keep the faith in winter.

You had a good day for the middle of winter! Keep the faith, I hear we're going to have an early spring this year.

Ya know, sometimes I think it's more about being stubborn, than about persevering. LOL

I knew you'd like that flat button. Like to figure it's age.

Every time I dig a nickel signal now I think it's
gonna be a war nickel. LOL

Thanks!

A .30 carbine eh? I thought that was a bit of a long shell.

What does the 43 mean on it? A date? :icon_scratch:

You got the digger into the ground and did battle with the frozen tundra, AND WON ! Congrats I applaud your tenacity! :hello2:
Nice finds too! Blingie and Fishy are smiling, you snagged some goodies, all is well!

Did you run across any deep ....interesting signals in that field? Bet you did! :icon_thumright: :coins: :laughing7:

Don't mind me, I haven't been out detecting in 3weeks, but soon.... soon I go traipsing upon the frozen tundra to seek my fortune. What I come back with is another thing, but enjoy it I will!

"43". Is the air temp we are all hoping for! Sorry couldn't help my self! :laughing7:

Well, 43 is a bit low for my druthers. ;)

But, yeah, this place is ALWAYS giving me surprises. Sometimes, I think I know every blade of grass
but it still manages to surprise. :)

I'm braving to do my part in helping those frozen in to keep the faith. Keep the fires burning,
you'll be a finding soon!

Thanks!
