Is there a story behind the find? Was the location a known police station, or barracks or some sort?

The field was owned by a Quaker military officer then gifted to a close friend and his wife in the 1820's. The home was occupied by two different families until it was torn down in 1940. There are no surviving members of either of the families that still live in the area. I'm trying to trace their family tree and see if I can find a police connection. It may take a while, but I'm sure the info is out there somewhere.
