my brother found an indian over 3 months ago and I have never seen a coin with so much build-up or crust on it, he has been soaking it in olive oil since the day he found it and recently we have even started heating up peroxide and soaking it in that, have done that probably 5 times? picked at it with tooth picks and now it is back in the olive oil.
This coin is so crusty that obviously it will never be worth anything, the back is completely covered with no detail and the front you can just barely make out a little part of the head dress, everything else including the date is completely covered up and everything is green... is there anyway to clean this without causing major damage? i know it will never be worth anything but we also dont want to ruin the chance of never finding out what date it is and it would be nice to keep as his first indian head find. any suggestion appreciated!
