Callie is still about 90% feral, and it took me over 3 years or work to socialize
her to the point that my wife and I can handle her, and she now sleeps in the
house (most nights). She's 6 lb. of "hell-on-wheels" when it comes to hunting
critters, and she likes to bring her catches to me so I too can "play" with them.
My "playing" consists of tossing the recently deceased critter out into the
deep brush...which pisses her off to no end, but she still brings me at least
one rodent a day.
My neighbor saw me holding her one day, and decided to walk on over to
thank me for Callie cleaning the moles from her yard. Mistake was she
tried to pick Callie up...bad idea!!! It took a few band-aids to cover the
deep claw marks on her arms, and she then understood that Callie didn't
trust anyone but me at the time. Wife and I are still the only ones that
can handle her, or that she'll come to, and she doesn't hesitate to remind
visitors of their fate should they try and pet her or pick her up!
All I did was ask her to pose with her catch and give me a big smile.
That is her "smile".
