It was suppose to rain all day. I got up and it wasn't, but before I left it started. It's been so cold and nasty the last three weeks, this was the first day I have been out. It just happens to be Super Bowl Sunday. The place I went today has been hit really hard. I usually find 1-4 bullets, but today I found ten, in just a little while. All of them were three fired three ringers except for one, not sure about it. It has a hollow bottom like the rest, but I cant tell what it is. I also found some camp lead, an ox shoe, and something round and thin, maybe a breast plate. I got to get it cleaned up better. I don't think it is though, the back don't look right.

Most of these were at 3-6 inches. Some were in the creek, that's why some do not have that white patina that Civil War era bullets normally have. Love that name JohnnyReb.

NICE! Way better than what I found yesterday!

This was a Yankee camp, but they were confederate units that passed through this area. There were a few skirmishes in this area. I have not found any Confederate bullets and so forth, but one of my MD buddies has found several Gardner bullets in this same area. I am hot on the trail of a Confederate camp now. It's about 4 miles from where I was at today. It's on this old map I have, now to get permission to hunt it. It's a decent size camp, hopefully I'll find a two piece Rebel buckle.

Exciting research. Sounds like your hot on the trail of some good finds. Good luck and congratulations on todays finds.

Nice bullets. I like they way they mushroomed out. I dug one dropped confederate enfield today. You did well!

Congrats on some nice CW lead Mark. I hope you find that next camp. Good luck.

You had a good hunt, great lead finds!

I've been all around this place Jpro, there is still some stuff here, but it's been hit hard since the 80's. If I find one I'm happy. I'd rather find a Civil War bullet than a silver coin anyday. The flats here have been pounded to death, you got to get the billy goat legs to find anything now.

Man mark, they hit hard. Nice finds, love the lead.

Any time you find old lead, you've had a great hunt. Congrats to you.
