Had to share this. Somewhere out there lies thousands of pounds of Gold, Silver & Jewels .... Can I just find a little of it?

Nice warm looking pics! Is that what bear ground still looks like? We have snow every couple of days, it's cold, ground is frozen solid, and the crazy groundhog just said we will have 6 more weeks of winter! Anyone up for some ground hog stew?

Granted living in snow country is no picnic. Many of you TH'ers are gnawing the bit because you want to get out metal detecting. I've read in the past that some TH'ers use a square tip shovel and a sifting screen and the day dawns and there is no wind, just the dry cold. How many shopping center parking lots are there in your area? Go metal detect them, notch out iron that may lie beneath the asphalt and start hunting. Anything lying on top will ring out loud and clear. People drop keys, cell phones, coins and jewelry when rushing to their cars after shopping and snow will cover just as fast as the sugar sand at the beach. So all isn't lost when fighting cabin fever.

Its all fun and games, till some gets frostbite!! the wind-chill is -25, and you can only hunt 10 min.

Lol! Not exactly the "bear" ground I was referring to but funny non the less! Thanks for the laugh!

Flauthor. I do search the plowed snow piles, just really miss detecting in thawed ground. Plus I think snow does a number on me, mood sinks as the snow falls, or accumulates on the ground. Don't mind me it will melt I will be fine. It's like being able to detect but not dig! Lol!

I know what you mean about the snow and mood. I wrestle with that as well...

So, what you're telling me is......If I get in a bad mood, I really don't have a good enough reason since I can go out and detect, right? :laughing7: You may be correct! Detecting definitely improves my outlook on things. If I was in your frozen boots, I'd be doing some armchair detecting (research) and maybe hit some plowed parking lots. Gotta keep that detecting blood circulating!

Cudamark,

Yesterday 2 hrs before sunset I took my MXT Pro out and it was pretty cool out with 20 mph win gusts. There was no sun either so for FL, a kind of cold day. I threw on my hoodie, jeans, sneakers and socks and headed to the beach. I was the only person out there, never less the only one out there with a detector. I saw some low spots and working them I found some sinkers, lures and clad. I don't fish, so I always give away any tackle I find. Its also great way to make contact and improve relations with local fishermen.

But the whole idea was that I needed to get out and swing my coil. I put on the headphones and block out most of the world and bea the the fresh air. Then I get that slow back and forth sweep going, less 1" over the sand........its a form of meditation! Everything else disappears when you're detecting ..... if I go a day synonym, I just don't feel the same.

Yup, it's very therapeutic. I went out today for 3 hours or so. No great finds and maybe $3-4 in change but hey, it was in the low 70's, sunny, no wind, I'm at the beach....hard to complain.....except my hunting buddy found 3 pieces of jewelry! The lucky :censored:!

When I go hunting with anyone we usually have a 50/50 deal. Any single item worth over $100.00 is split when sold. I always keep relics and coins, but sell any and all jewelry.

I'm the other way around, I keep all the good jewelry (when I can't find the one who lost them) and get rid of the coins and relics. Well, I say I keep them, it's usually my wife that claims dibs on the good stuff!
