Aloha sometimes the single man canoe can take a few weeks to get to Hawaii. They must have used the 4 man one for the tips. To bad not many people dirt fish here in Hawaii, I would recommend your tips in a heart beat.

These are much nicer than the red plastic caps or the rubber chair leg protectors some people have used from wally world. 5 bucks is cheap insurance to protect those expensive probes from wear and possible damage.
