Sundays lake finds/button question

Did a little shallow water detecting on Sunday.Found some clad(Of course), a ton of old shotgun and rifle brass, three wheats (the oldest a 28s), a silver toe ring , a two piece snap button with " U.S.F." on it, and a small gold pin. Anyone know what the U.S.F. is ?? Is it old ?? Another thing, the gold pin had a little decorative pattern on the front and on the back after a little cleaning I found only the word "GOLD".?? I havent seen anything marked like that before...anyone have any info on that ?? THanks alot and H.H.....JO
