Dad & I spent 3 hours in what we thought should be a promising field. It was next to the Saxon Brooch Field, & we had found Saxon items on the field the other side of it. But it became clear to us it not going to produce the goods, we had to be happy with a Livery Button & Georgian Buckle :icon_scratch:

Next week we will re-think our plan...

I was glad to see one complete for a change, & I'm not sure if I have this variant.

No it only rained a little.

It could have been worse then! You could have been detecting around here, not got the buckle and got soaked :-\

beautiful buckle!
Here makes the perfect weather to go to the beach :icon_sunny: ..... but we have no gold stater to hunt. :-\

Some interesting bits...the very odd shaped piece ?? Better than your last hunt too.

You shouldn't right the field of yet :-\ it could take a while for the Saxon finds to appear :icon_thumleft: keep dropping back on it from time to time, and I'm sure a goodie will turn up....you can only find, what's been lost.
I found my only third piece of Saxon on the potato field on Sunday...a field I have searched regular over the past three years....it's there, you will get it :icon_thumleft:

SS

I know how to hunt, its just not like the field next to it, we have covered 50% of it & I'm sure we will try again.

Which odd piece, the candle snuffer??

My last 1.5 hours on Sat, in the field next to it was 1000% times better than this one :icon_scratch: (2 Saxon/Viking finds) - compared to 6 man hours of nothing older than 300 years.

Triangle with half circle on top.

I may have missed that one, sure I don't see them all (posts).

Its a small part of a Victorian Medallion (would have been cross shaped)

Thanks for letting me know Cru . . . looks like it might be a restorable piece? :icon_scratch:
Is this something that you might consider attempting?

Do you ever restore any of your finds?

I'd think that you would probably prefer to keep them in their "as found" condition.

Just curious that's all. :icon_thumright:

Cheers,
Dave

Excellent Crusader !

You should be made a peer for the wonderful recovery work you have accomplished.

Good hunting,
