Sunday’s finds xx

Ahh the best laid plans… so we didn’t get to go to the Roman field, nor did we get a full day… so we went back to yesterdays field and got a few more bits! Now the long wait till next weekend 🫤 xx

A spindle whorl, chunky lead weight, pot leg, more bell metal plate bits and the end of a spoon, oil lamp bit and a piece of pipe I saw, musket ball, slice of weight and half a lead ball with hole thru, decorative bits, x 2, little lead weight, lead pin with iron insert and piece of buckle, big square of lead and bit, buttons, the one on the pottery piece is unusual it’s back is shown front row second from left in pic of the rest of the buttons.

Definitely getting colder but the insects are still out and about! 😆 xx

Are my eyes deceiving me with the second to last insect pic? Are those long insect legs I see? Either way, great shot.

Definitely agree with counstar, that is a great shot! I wonder🤔does your heart skip a beat when you see a button? Like thinking it’s a coin but it’s a button?

Yes its a Daddy Long Legs (aka Crane Flies) 😬 i hate them buzzy awful things… but this one was quite happy to pose for a pic 😆 xx

Thanks 😆 xx and yes…some of those buttons covered in mud really look like hammered or romans… many a time ive had to break himself’s heart by disclaiming his “coin” as a button 😆 (have also learnt to double double check mine before shouting “COIN” 😂😂 xx
