…. Or not! After the torrential rain from dawn to yesterday, we made a decision I very soon regretted…. Into the disked field we went… within seconds our boots and shovels were caked in heavy wet sticky… did I say heavy… clay 😳 xx oh my days, I thought I was going to loose a leg… (after a bad horse riding accident my leg from the knee down took four years to be rebuilt…) …. But with me having found silver 2 days running Himself was not backing down, so while himself nimbly bounced across the land, I trudged slowly about stopping every 2 mins to clean off my boots with the shovel, then trying to clean the shovel with my boot 😬 xx

never mind.. so no silver today … but a trifecta of nice Livery buttons… horse boss, pot leg, 3 possible strap ends (?) little tack pin then a lock thing and a handle thing, no idea on the next piece, poss scrap but it’s chunky and heavy… 2 lead bullets 4 musket balls, soo much lead… these are the shaped bits I saved, buttons and my only coin a 1935 Pre dec….

There was a Napoleonic event at the castle today, so much cannon booming and the smell of gunpowder was in the air ! Xx

BOOOM! (Wobble wobble.)
Hard to run in wet clay isn't it?
Oh wait , you two have permission to be there...

Lots of recoveries considering the field conditions. Some interesting goodies in the mix for sure.
I might have made it five yards.. You would have heard me farther though singing..(Heavy boots of lead Fills his victims full of dread.) Besides finding iron not being so uncommon/ ironman.

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

Cru'dad & I both have bad knees now & sticky clay boots & spades are just all part of it.
Shame you were not better rewarded for your efforts.

At least you got to go play in the dirt.
Nice couple of buttons, though I can't make out the script on the silver washed one.

There's muddy then there's sticky and your clay is some the finest for sticky.

The piece of lead kind of sums up the sticky boot day.
Making that face that says it all. (It's even got that hole in the head for trying to do the sticky)
