So the sunday hunt was a success! This morning at 8am, I met up with TreasureFiend, Goio, Tman and McEtrak for some good 'ol park hunting. TF and I were the only ones with an SE Pro, the other guys had E-TRACs. At first it was so cold I was wondering if I could continue with my hands being so numb, but as soon as I got to digging my body warmed up. I started finding relics like one after another, and Goio dumbed me the Relic Hunter. I had the small charm, the pocket knife with the shield on it, and the set of keys at that point. Soon enough I had found the crusty indian head penny that ended up being the 1908, which was only maybe 3-4" down. Next up was the 1945-P nickel which was a complete surprise to me. I was digging high tones and not really even looking at the graph, but relying more on the depth. The nickel was down about 5". I scored a crusty wheatie after that which the obverse of is still nasty... that's the one pictured with only the reverse showing - heh. The other two wheaties came from under a small tree each. One is a 1941-D and the other is a 1945. At first I thought the '45 was a copper '43 and I was crapping my pants. Tman promptly escorted me over to McEtrak to borrow his loupe... and reported that it was in fact just a '45. I knew it was too good to be true, but one can dream right? That '45 wheatie was my last good find of the day, but somewhere before that I dug the 1908 indian head penny from a depth of 8" with a thick rusted bolt in the hole with it.
So all in all, the finds were:
1941-D wheatie
1945-P wheatie
crusty wheatie
1945-P war nickel
1907 IH
1908 IH

I had a great time! Let's do it again next Saturday!
