My wife and I went back to our new spot this morning and after todays finds I think we are on an early to mid 1800's location. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424049997.871041.jpgWe found quite a few great old targets and everything was between 6 - 12 inches deep. A lot of old relics not alot of trash so any spot like that is a great spot in my book.
First we found some old iron not sure what they are except for the file ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050102.889115.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050162.409785.jpg
Then found an old Treble Gilt Colour button ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050469.928178.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050487.859911.jpg The next item is pretty decorative but not sure what it is, Saddle Concho? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050571.697735.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050590.815784.jpg Then found an old heel plate for a shoe, my first and really cool! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050659.186535.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050676.603814.jpg Next found another button larger that says EXTRA GILT and old pottery piece in the same hole. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050764.494338.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050945.737551.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424050969.270546.jpg Then found another first for me, an old skeleton key pad lock ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051085.493274.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051103.144916.jpg The next find was another button with Treble Gilt Colour on the back ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051182.283816.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051206.150438.jpg Next was another larger button that has a vine/wreath decoration on the back ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051281.606178.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051295.473062.jpg Next was a very cool first, a large shoe buckle frame with Hard Solder stamped on the back. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051410.262203.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051423.707424.jpg The next few items I don't know what they are but would love to know. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051497.040706.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051515.584368.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051531.520103.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424051547.987048.jpg The rest of the pictures are the items we found today cleaned. Please comment if you know what the unidentified items are. Outstanding hunt! Congratulations!

Neat stuff, I think the oval plate with the slot was on a Mc Clellan saddle. I have found a few here in Arizona. Those saddles were used here during the indian wars and probably in the civil war as well.

I believe you are right. Thank you very much!

Great finds ya'll. Cool lock. That made the effort worth it just finding that. Now, where is the key?

great finds, that oval piece kind of looks like the plates that the escrution pin goes thru to hold the barrel to the stock of a muzzle loader.

Your brass piece with the round hole & the iron roller on the side appears to be out of a door lock...........
Nice finds!!

was thinking magneto for a small eng but it may be a roller lock for a cabinet ?

Another nice group of finds!, I really like that heel plate!

My first impression of the oval plate was a key slot on a box. Given the other close finds (lock, cabinet roller), they may have all been part of the same item?

Yea, that what I thought too until Jayjo above suggested it was a part off of a McClellon saddle and I looked up the saddle and they appear to be a match to the saddle hardware.

Looks like a great spot to return to...
Tis a good / right "trail".

Great Job, Awesome hunt. Can wait until the snow melts and ground thaws.
