Hey all,

It's been a little while, hasn't it? Finally got something worth posting, so here goes.
(Sorry in advance, this is gonna be a bit long)

By my old neighborhood there are some woods that I still live to explore. Today, my Dad took me, my brothers, and my dog out there to do some raspberry pickin'. Last time we were up there, I found an old trash pit, so I decided if check it out after we got some raspberries.

Unfortunately, all the raspberries were gone, but I did get quite a haul from the pit! Last time we were there, it was just some miscellaneous old junk above ground, and looked like this:

But when we went there today, it looked like this!

Needless to say I was amazed. It doesn't look like anyone dug all this up, but I don't feel like it all just climbed out of the ground, either. But the hunt was on to find some awesome old stuff, and find stuff I did! Here are some pics from the site:

First find was this old toy gun, maybe 1 yard from the pile. It was still kinda buried, so I know that I found this one. First thing to resemble a gun I've found!

Saw these old shoe parts everywhere, I imagine these weren't cheap back then!

Some shiny blue glass a few yards from the main pile.

I think the hunt overall was pretty cool, and I did manage to bring some stuff home with me, I'm pretty happy with what I got. Here it is:

The gun, obliviously, some cool milk-colored bottles, and some weird electronic thing. Some closer pictures for ya:

The gun is surprisingly comfortable in the hand. It still needs some work, and another half, but I'll probably just clean off the rust and leave it. I think that it's pretty cool.

This bottle jumped out at me for some reason. It cleaned up nicely, and it says "POND'S" on the side. I like the old milky colored bottles, which is why I kept this.

Even though this little bottle has a huge chip in it, I decided to keep it. I'm glad I did, the patterns that the glass makes is really neat. Definitely a keeper, even though I'll have to make something to keep it from falling.

This thing is weird to me. It doesn't look like anything I've seen before. This was about 25-30 yards away from the pit/pile. Any ideas on this are welcome.

So that's it! Thanks for taking a look at this, and HH!

Oh, and the obligatory minifig pic.

Nice finds, for not having to dig. Beautiful milk glass, i only find fragments of milk glass containers. The TDD-3A could be a TDD device for the hearing impaired.

Your TDD-3A looks almost identical to this TDD-3A1 Ringer Isolation Relay Old phone equipment

Yeah, I thought it looked like it would be some sort of telephone-ish equipment. Thanks for the link!

Thanks, I normally only find shards of them as well. I'm really happy that these were both in (mostly) one piece.

Electrolysis did wonders on my toy cap gun. I'd give that a shot if I were you... And go back and dig it again!

Groovy place & groovy finds! :icon_thumright: Your Pond's milk glass jar contained "cold cream" which is what women smeared lightly on their faces for moisture & wrinkle delayer. My Mom always had a jar of Pond's cold cream handy as we were growing up. Dunno how long they were manufactured or whether they're still being made & sold. But your jar could be rather old because my Mom was born 100 years ago in 1913 & I was born l-o-n-g ago in 1942, lol. DON'T WAIT TIL NEXT RASPBERRY SEASON TO GET BACK TO YOUR TRASH PIT CUZ SOMEONE MIGHT GET THERE FIRST! :BangHead: HAVE FUN! :occasion18: Andi

Wow! Thanks for the info! I think this pit is from a farm that I think stopped being a functional farm in the 1950's, so some of the stuff is pretty old!

Also, I won't have to wait that long to get back up there. My dog died in December, and we're gonna scatter her ashes up there as soon as my entire family can. So hopefully I can turn a somber occasion into a happy one!

Forgot to put this in original post, but here's some neat looking beer bottles I found at what looks like another trash pit!
