I am going to throw something out here.
I had a very scary event happen to me that I wanted to share.
2 weeks ago, I had an episode where 20 minutes out of the day I don’t remember. During this time I was fully cognizant and within the moment conversing with my wife but could not remember simple answers like who the president was or where our family was going the upcoming weekend. Mind you, I don’t even remember her asking these. To me, the day was normal.
This scared her as well as my family so a decision was made to go to the hospital. Let the tests begin. CT scan, EKG image, MRI, EEG ( both 20 min and 24 hour) , blood tests, and Spinal tap (that was fun) for bacteria in the fluid. ALL test came back negative and normal except some questionable waveforms from the EEG that showed seizure activity.
They prescribed KEPPRA and wanted to monitor activity.
While on KEPPRA, no seizure activity was caught.
Very frustrating because they do not know what happened.
Their conclusion was I had a subclinical seizure that emulated a TGA.
KEPPRA twice a day and a baby aspirin until further notice.
A positive take away from this is they said I have a heart of an athlete and I am in very good physical condition.
I got to thinking since this was a neurological episode, does anyone know if the constant beeps of a metal detector through headphones can cause this. Silly I know but I can’t think of anything that could have triggered this. Am I way off base here?
has anyone had or known anyone who have experienced this after prolong use of a metal detector?

Hyperthermia can cause short-term neurological and cognitive dysfunction .. are you sure you weren't overheated?

Not overheated but a bit dehydrated

100% confident no small brain bleed or pressure in/on the brain somewhere?
(There's a reason I ask where someone else had a bleed that didn't get found immediately.)

I'd expect in my nonclinical or qualified guess , that flashing light would trigger you before sound would.

How long since detecting did you seizure? And or , did you seizure while detecting?

If you regress in being potty trained , quit detecting a while till you know why...
:laughing7:

You didn't stop any medications recently had you ?
20 minutes of memory loss isn't that bad, scary I imagine.
I don't know what the definition of a sub clinical seizure is so I don't know anything about them.
I don't know if the beeping can cause seizures.
The Havana syndrome is supposedly real and causes seizure symptoms.
If you have compact fluorescent lights, ditch them.
Regular fluorescent bulbs too.

MRI and CT Scan showed no brain bleed.
I detect every weekend.
This happened the next day. This did not happen while detecting.
I am just trying to rule this out.

No didn’t stop. Actually the first long term medication I was prescribe.

It certainly can be scary when this happens.

But rest assured it's totally normal to be thinking about detecting while the Mrs is talking.
It's called tuning out-you just got caught that's all.
Happens to the best of us at times.
Should of been listening instead of thinking of digging.

Just making a little :laughing7: light of a serious concern.
Best of luck-hope it's just a brain fart, and everything will be good.

You did not mention your present age. Where in Ohio are you ?
