So I bought a new stuttenroth impact mill from Archie Stuttenroth.
I believe it’s a 2nd generation fine grind mill. Rated at 2tph.
First off, Archie is very available for questions, and very helpful.
He recommended a 10hp 3500rpm electric motor, reduced with the proper sized pulleys to get the mill spinning at 2150rpm
It’s much louder than I expected. It sounds a lot like an airplane.
He said it’s designed for 1/2”- material to feed it. My jaw crusher makes 3/4”-, with a few rocks in the 1” range.
I’m getting about 85% going through a 30 mesh screen with one pass. I’m running the material wet to eliminate dust, and the potential of the ore packing since everything is wet this time of year.
It seems very well built, and seems to be running very smooth.
I’m going to try to upload a video of it on YouTube. I wasn’t really able to find much info about these mills other than from Archie, and from a post I made on here.
