Stupid detecing moment #2 of the week

Ok now that I can see what I'm typing ill continue. Sorry no footprint pic as I try not to document my own stupidity and just laughed. Ok stupid moment #2. Was detecting in the dark tonight with no light. Found the bottom of one of those old compacts that we are always are hoping are full of coins. OMG I see a large reeded edge! Turn it upside down and try to smack it in my palm to get my hoard out all in one piece and totally murder this poor earthworm.

Lmao. Told that to my gf and she almost fell out of the bed laughing

I feel you on the earthworm deal; last week I dug up a poor Cicada larva ,waay too soon for [usually July arrival] I Dont think it was one that waits over 17 years to come out to live for a week or two, I would REALLY feel awful then , just put him back in the [pull tab hole ,softly filled it back in w/dirt and wished him the best . Man I seem to like insect's better than some people I know .[ thats pretty bad ]

Hey, be careful with those worms! :)

Funny one with the worm .. I have'nt done that yet. :laughing7:

A few years back I was detecting an old colonial site. I went through some brush and my minelab explorer started acting up. I started messing with my settings. I spent about 30 mins trying to detect and figure out what was happening. I finally noticed that the toggle switch on my Sunray probe must of turned to the probe side. Must of moved when I went through the brush. I felt so stupid.

Beercanman I was on my ways to Versailles and got past Frankfort
and my wife called and said if you are going detecting you will need
what you left laying on the couch, yup, it was my detector. sigh...

Allen, I drove several miles to the beach only to leave my scoop home. :BangHead:

I usually go to the beach with a friend of mine who has taken up metal detecting, she loves it, she'll usually take the higher dry sand, and I'll swing down around the tide line. If one of us finds something kinda cool, we'll walk over and show each other, and when I do, I turn my detector off, I read somewhere that they interfere with each other when they come in close range, so I had gotten in the habit of turning it off. Of course the ideal thing would be to turn it back on -- that day I made it about five minutes down the beach , swinging away, when I finally realized my detector was suspiciously quiet. lol.
