So today I went trough all of my trash found in 2017 and sorted it out cause I was going to throw it all away. And when I did it I saw a horseshoe that I reckoned was very old and I didn't know how it ended up in the trash. I went through my horseshoe guide and found out the age of it and I believe it is at least medieval period. Somewhere between 1000 A.D to late 1500's. When I found the horseshoe last summer I must've thought it was a fairly modern one but since I've read and thought myself some facts about more older artifacts I instantly recognized it. The field that I found this on is a very unique and old field dating from ca 300 B.C and last used around the late 1800's.

Here are some pictures:

Thank you for reading and happy hunting!

Very interesting - congrats on the re-discovery of a great find! Just shows that research and a keen eye are critical to finding treasures, even when they are right in front of us all along! Cheers! :occasion14:

nice find never declare a find trash till you know what it is

Nice find. I've heard the thicker they are the older they are but I'm not sure if that's true.

It's somewhat true. If you look on horseshoes from the late 1600's to the modern ones the theory is quite correct but for the very old ones (like mine) they are often very thin as what I have seen. Her's a photo to explain it more briefly:
