Hello Tnet,
Found these 2 buckles in a small 30 minute hunt today.
Anybody an idea how old they could be ?
Those are centimeters btw

The one on the right is a very nice complete example of a late 1600's shoe buckle. The one of the left I am not sure about, it is either a roman or medieval era buckle. I am not sure of what it is for, or narrowing down the date.

Actually the one on the left is not a buckle, but a roman brooch! Awesome find!

I thought the same thing but it is very small and doesn't have the opening in the ring to allow it to fasten to clothing.

Not a brooch. Just a small strap buckle.

Found this buckle on a field where i've found a lot of couns dating back till 1662
I think this buckle a a buckle for a typical cone head. A popular clothing piece in the VOC times.

It looks like the chin strap buckle from a mid-19th C military cap or kepi.

The round one is a annular brooch, and is medieval in date.

Tricky one, wide date range on this type. But to me I would place in the 17th C.
