Well I have been busy!! I have been out almost every evening for the last week and tonight I searched probly the most dificut spot yet!! It was a playground but the fill was pead gravel!! boy what a trip. I got alot of hit which showed quarters and dimes but every time I would dig the gravel kept filling in the hole as fast as I dug!! and the coin seemed to get deeper as i went. I did pull .28 cents after about 1 1/2 hours I finally gave up and went back to one of my other spots and pulled $2.98 in about an hour!! That saved my evening!! any one that has been following my post since I joined will see the coin count jump I have made in the past week. Has anyone seached in pead gravel before? any tricks to it? It is a huge play ground and I would love to go and clean it out! But not for the work I had to go to just to Pull a little. >:(

Pea gravel is a pain huh.
I skip in now most of the time.
It contains a lot of mineralisation too, messing with the detector.
Plus, whatever you find is usually beat to death.
Good luck to you!!

I agree with Cal. I hunted three different playgrounds with peagravel today. The signals were choppy and broken and the only ones that played out were those coins that were really close to the surface. Peagravel sucks. However, the first time I hunted peagravel I found a silver necklace...it also was partially exposed on the surface. If you are going to hunt it be prepared to be driven crazy. :P

When you are searching in pea gravel, I have found you want to look only for "repeatable"
signals on your detector. that means you get the same or a similar signal every time you move it over the same spot. I have found a few good pieces of jewelry in some gravel lots, so its possible to find stuff, just a litle annoying at times lol.

The only thing I've found that works in pea gravel is a small kids sand shovel and dig fast, lol... ;D

Good luck cause it's a pain
