Hunted for a while with my buddy Dave today. We returned to a field where I found a colonial era shoe buckle a month or two ago. I was thinking there had to be more there but that was the only thing any of the three of us found that day. We went back today and randomly wandered the field looking for an iron patch of some sort. After an hour or so Dave called to me from about 150 yards away but I couldn't hear him from where I was so I made my way toward him. He showed me a nice dandy button when I finally made it over there. We both started to check that area and sure enough there was a lot of iron chirp there in my headphones. We hunted it for about another hour. After a few square nails I came across a signal that was pretty good but not exactly repeatable. The best numbers I vould get from it on my E-Trac were 18-44. Dug down about 6 inches and popped a nice round object out of the hole. Took a few pics of it with my camera in the field but realized at the end of the day that I never put my SD card back in my camera after my last hunt. So I had to settle on a few pics of the finds after I got home. That one turned out to be a dateless matron head LC. About 5 feet away I got a signal that was even worse. I think the only reason I dug it was because of the proximity of it to the other copper signal. It was actually giving me a 1-32 signal but there seemed to be a high tone in there so I dug it fully expecting to find a square nail or other piece of iron. Turned out to be a copper though with a bunch of iron in the hole with it. This one turned out to be a classic head LC with a date of 1814. The indian heads and the rein guide were found on a previous hunt. They are 1905 and 1883.
