I found the following in a field about 8 inches down in hard packed clay. It was not far from an 1800’s farm house. Not that that is any indication of date. Just thought the more information the better.

Thanks in advance!

Well,it’s a quarter! Thanks for putting the eagle looking thingy in there for size reference!
Seriously, even though I don’t know what it is,you may keel over when you find out,I have a feeling it’s something pretty crazy.

I have a feeling it is from a marksmanship trophy

I think trdking is correct in that it is a 'drawer pull back.' It is the right size, right thickness, and has a center hole for the pull. The one pictured below is a repro, but the idea is the same. Eagles were very popular during the Federal Period, which was circa 1789 to 1823. I'm not saying your piece is or is not that old. There were several eras of history where 'eagles' were very popular.

Welcome to the Forum.

Neat find :)
