can anyone explain in dummy terms what this means? strike and dip.JPG
Thanks.

The strike is the direction of the vein at the surface. The dip is the angle of the vein into the ground relative to horizontal. A vein going straight into the ground, like a well casing, would be a dip of 90*. Usually the dip is given as an angle, and a direction...the direction being the direction of the dip as it goes into the ground...like it dips at a 40* angle to the northwest.

wow that helps some, I'm still wrapping my mind around it, and thanks hope you don't mind if I ask you more in the future. I'm trying to figure out surveys and the maps
that go with.

Thanks a lot Jim, that is a big help. I can look at the maps with a little more knowledge.
