Fossilized coral maybe? Horn coral or finger coral?

Could be coral I guess, but I'm no where near an ocean, I'm in central North Carolina close to Charlotte

The seascapes have changed dramatically over the last 12,000 years with the retreat of the glaciers.

Here on Lake Champlain in northern Vt., some of the Champlain Islands contain portions of coral reefs, and in the town directly to the north of me on the lake, the remains of a whale have been excavated and today reside in the museum at UVM. All of this area was part of the Atlantic ocean in that early period.

These are salmon gill rake's. I don't think that's what you have? I will say if it is, it was a huge fish! It's hard to tell from a pic but your item doesn't look to be fossilized either so what ever it came from there probably still around? Very interesting find. HH

I also fount this image but it's not close and not enough detail to help? It is a fish with plate like teeth. HH

They don't seem to be fossilized. I will take more pictures tomorrow holding it to get a better sense of scale.
